Game Recap

Entering a school nearly double the size than that of Greensburg, the Pirates certainly had their amount of work cut out to get the Win on Saturday evening.

Having three games in a five day stretch also challenged the Pirates to be well prepared coming into Saturday night. Once the ball was in the air around 7:40 PM however, there was no worry in the eyes of the blue and white.

Jumping out to an 18-2 advantage after the first quarter of play, Jason Simpson and his Pirates kept accelerating into half with a 44-12 lead. In the end, the Pirates would hold the lead and go on to take Victory #6 78-47.

Kyra Whitaker led the way in scoring with 25 points. Aliyah Evans had 14 points and 9 rebounds while Ashlynn Meyer chipped in 9. Claire Fleetwood played a large role in the first half as others sat with foul trouble and picked up 11 rebounds in the process.

Again ball movement and communication was incredibly strong as 17 of the teams 23 made field goals were assisted. 9 of the 18 teams three point attempts also fell, four of those from Whitaker.

Meanwhile the JV Pirates fell to 3-2 in a heartbreaker 44-41. Being down by as many as 12 late in the 4th quarter, the Pirates were able to draw within a handful of points of multiple occasions, but couldn’t quite close the gap all the way.

Freshman Grace Crist led all JV players with 16 points including 4/9 from three. Cam Jones had 10 while Bailey Springmeyer had 6, Rose Morrison with 5. Carlee Phillips had 4 points and 5 rebounds.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday Night at East Central against the Trojans.

C Team plays at Home on Monday, November 21st vs Connersville.
