Greensburg High School
Greensburg played host to the Twisters of Oldenburg on Tuesday evening. Oldenburg was able to walk away with a 4-1 win. At #1 Singles, Angela Wanstrath (O) defeated Raegan Rigney (G) by a 6-1, 6-1 score. “The score really doesn’t indicate the overall match. Reagan played a very solid match, but just couldn’t win enough big points to get any real momentum”. At #2, Bailey Menkedick (G) dropped her match to Margaret Glaser (O) 6-1, 6-0. At #3, Kathryn Wilder (O) defeated Emma Hellmich (G) 6-0, 6-0. In Doubles action, Elaine Welage/Julia Pacilio (G) dropped their match at #1 to Hanna Hurm/Sarah Preston (O) 6-3, 6-2. At second doubles, Kirsten Fong/Claudia Westhafer (G) won over Carsen Thompson/Sarah Price (O) 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4). “I was very pleased with the play at Second Doubles tonight. They were paired together for the first time and after dropping the first set, they came together and fought hard. It was a very well played tie-breaker to win the match”. “This was our third different line-up in as many matches. We are getting closer to finding the combination needed to field our best team.”
In JV action, Ellie Burkhart dropped a couple of matches 8-2 & 6-4. Sarah Schenider won her match in singles 8-2. “Sarah is improving at a rapid pace”. In doubles, Emma Nobbe/Hannah Redman dropped their match 8-3.
