The Lady Pirates tennis team travled to Jennings County on Tuesday evening and dropped the match by a 3-2 score. Getting Greensburg’s first point was the doubles team of Elaine Welage & Julia Pacilio.
Playing at #1 Doubles, the duo opened up with a strong 6-2 first set win. In the second, they fell behind early and trailed the entire set until forcing a 6-6 tie and going into a tie-breaker. They regrouped in the breaker and ran away with a 7-3 win.
Getting Greensburg’s other victory was Ellie Acra, playing at #3 Singles. Acra battled from the start with her opponent, often playing very long points. Acra dropped the first set 6-4. The second set was a mirror image of the first with Acra coming out on top by the same 6-4 score. The third set was even closer than the first two. Acra played behind the entire set until taking her first lead at 6-5 and then closing out the match with a 7-5 win.
At #1 Singles, Raegan Rigney dropped her match 6-3, 6-4. Bailey Menkedick lost 6-1, 6-0 at second singles and Kirsten Fong/Claudia Westhafer lost 6-1, 6-2 at #2 doubles.
In JV action, Emma Hellmich won a pair of matches, one singles and one doubles. Ellie Burkhart also won her singles match.
