Greensburg High School
The Greensburg Lady Pirates traveled to Rushville for an EIAC match with the Lady Lions and won 2-0. The Annual âBattle of the Ballâ trophy will remain with the Lady Pirates as they notched their second win of the season and first conference win.
Sierra Huffman got the Lady Pirates on the board sixty-seven seconds into the match when she scored off a pass from Alaina Nobbe. The assist was Alainaâs first of her career. With 16:33 to play, Huffman again scored off a pass from Nobbe for a 2-0 halftime lead. The second was much the same with both teams playing 18 to 18. The defensive rotation for the Lady Pirates played an outstanding match shutting down and putting pressure on Rushvilleâs counter attacks. Outstanding play by Emma Hellmich, Hannah Redmon, Takisha Lee, Alaina Nobbe, Katie Beam, Kelsey Scott and Keirsten Lynette. Lynette also shared keeper duties with Emily Lowe with Lynette making 7 first half saves and Lowe secured 3 in the second half. The Lady Lions did earn 13 corner kicks and the Lady Pirates did a solid job to not allow a goal off any of those plays.
Taking shots for the Lady Pirates were: Huffman, Hellmich, Abby Easley, Emily Rosales, Abby Scheumann, and Beam. The win brings the overall record to 2-10 and 1-3 in EIAC play. The team will be in action Thursday when they travel to Franklin County for an EIAC match.
