Meet Recap

The EIAC Cross Country Championships were at Rushville Saturday morning. The Lady Pirates won the conference cross country title for the first time since 1997. Greensburg scored 32 pts and had five runner earned all-conference honors. The victory improved the Lady Pirates’ record to 56-10 for the season.

Greensburg’s Brenner Hanna took the lead from the start of the race. She and senior Cathy Newhart pushed each other of the 5 km course and finished 1-2 overall. Hanna ran 19:54 for the win and was named the conference MVP. Newhart had a time of 20:06 and earned all-EIAC for the 4th consecutive time in cross county. Freshman Mollie Pumphrey had a time of 21:07 and was 5th place overall. Elizabeth Pavy finished in 21:19 for 11th place while Cameron Jones placed 13th in 21:23. That was the third time Jones earned all-EIAC honors. Freshman Olivia Colson crossed the finish line in 22:47 to place 21st. Hilary Ernstes had a strong finish. She was 24th in 23:08.

In the girls’ reserve competition, Cheaney Jones and Charlotte Anderson worked together for most of the race. Cheaney was the runner up in 24:57, and Anderson came in 3rd overall in a time of 25:01. Molly Brandes placed 6th in 25:40. Claire Burford crossed the finish line in 13th with a time of 30:51.
