Game Recap

The Greensburg Lady Pirates concluded the regular season Saturday morning when they lost to Triton Central 3-0. An unfortunate foul inside the penalty box gave the Lady Tigers a penalty kick 3 minutes into the match and the host added insurance goals at the 29 and 11-minute mark to secure the win. In the match, Triton Central held most of the possession and outshot the Lady Pirates 15-2. The second half shut out was impressive for Greensburg and they forced two offsides calls in the match. Keepers Keirsten Lynette and Emily Lowe each recorded 5 saves on shots on goal. Kaelyn Spears and Sara Brown recorded the only shot for the Lady Pirates. The loss drops the squad to 2-14 as they now turn their attention to Lawrenceburg for a first-round sectional match. The game will be played in Lawrenceburg with a 5:30 PM kickoff.

Game Recap

The Greensburg Lady Pirates traveled to Connersville for an EIAC match with the Lady Spartans and played to a scoreless first half. During the first stanza, the hosts recorded 11 shots to the Lady Pirates 8 in an up and down the field, and physical match. The second half started with the Lady Spartans maintaining possession and scoring their first goal off a ball that initially hit the cross bar and was not secured by the Lady Pirate defense or keeper at the 23-minute mark. Over the next 5 minutes, Connersville added two more goals from baseline crosses to the face of the goal. The Lady Pirates played their best match of the year despite only getting 13 minutes to warm up for the match as Connersville did not hold the clock at 20 minutes as most schools do. Unfortunately for the Lady Pirates, they were not able to mount successful and consistent offensive runs in the second half, but the team battled and played well throughout.
Taking shots on the evening were: Emma Porter, Abby Easley, Kelsey Scott, Hannah Redmon, Sierra Huffman, Sara Brown, and Alaina Nobbe. Keirsten Lynette made 16 saves in the loss while Emily Lowe secured 3 shots in the match. The Lady Pirates will conclude the regular season when they travel to Triton Central Saturday morning for a 10 AM match with the Lady Tigers.
