In what appeared to be a battle for second place, the Greensburg Pirates settled for a fourth place finish out of then ten competing teams on Saturday at the Batesville Invitational at Hillcrest Country Club. Madison ran away with both the team title and the team team best-ball title. The individual champion was Madison’s Landon Conner with a 74. Greensburg was led by junior Cole Carder with a solid round of 84. Following behind were Devin Winkler (87), Trevor Foster (89), Kyle Sellers (95), and Ben Bausback (98). The Pirates for the most part played very well on the front nine and carded a team score of 170. However, the unfamiliarity with the tougher back nine proved difficult for the young Pirates. All in all, it was a solid day for Greensburg, and it should prove to be a solid tune-up for next weekend’s EIAC meet, which is also being held at Hillcrest.
