The Greensburg Cross Country teams traveled to Moores Hill on Saturday morning to compete in the IHSAA Sectional race hosted by South Dearborn. In the girls’ competition, the Lady Pirates finished second out of the 11 teams in Sectional 23. Greensburg had five runners finish in the top 20 to earn all-sectional recognition. They had 52 pts and will race in the regional meet for the seventh consecutive year.
Sophomore Brenner Hanna defended her individual title winning the race with a time of 18:59. Emily Mangels took 7th in a time of 21:13. Liz Pavy used a strong finish to take 8th in 21:22. Mollie Pumphrey placed 16th in 22:20 while Olivia Colson crossed the finish line in 22:49 for 20th place. Emma Wilmer was 40th in 24:43, and freshman Sophie Nobbe placed 52nd in 26:23. The Lady Pirates have a record of 49-19 for the 2018 season. The girls qualified to race in the Shelbyville Regional next Saturday that starts at 10:30 am.
