The Greensburg Cross Country teams traveled to Moores Hill for the 19th Annual South Dearborn Invitational Saturday morning. The Lady Pirates placed 3rd out of 17 teams in the meet and improved their record for 2018 to 24-15. Brenner Hanna was the individual champion. She covered the 5 km course in a season best time of 18:55 breaking 19 minutes for the first time this year. That performance also set the sophomore record for Greensburg.
Freshman Emily Mangels also continued her steady improvement on the season. She was 7th overall in 20:40, her best time of the year. Emily moved into 9th place all-time at Greensburg with her finish. Liz Pavy recorded her best time of 2018. She came across the finish line in 21:29 for 14th place. Olivia Colson had her fastest race of the season on Saturday taking 23rd place in 22:04. Mollie Pumphrey earned 27th place in 22:20, her best performance of the year. Emma Wilmer broke 24:00 for the first time ever Saturday morning. She came in 44th overall in 23:33.
The Lady Pirates also had several strong performances in the reserve competition Saturday morning putting four runners in the top ten. Molly Brandes was the runner up in the race. She earned 2nd place in 24:41, her fastest time of the season. Freshman Kayla Haycock was 3rd overall 25:00 lowering her best time of the season by nearly a minute. Morgan Winkler was 7th in 26:51, and Sophie Taylor finished 9th with her best time the season. She crossed the finish line in 27:18. Charlotte Anderson placed 12th in 28:10 while teammate Mallory Gaddis broke the 30:00 barrier for the first time. She was the 15th reserve finisher in 28:49.
