Greensburg High School vs Jennings County High School

With a Sectional Title on the line, Greensburg and host Jennings County met on the court Sat. morning. It was a cool and crisp fall morning, but the tennis was heated.
Just as he did in the semi-final, Brett Stringer got things started well for Greensburg. Stringer raced out to a 5-0 lead in set one before winning 6-1. Set two was the same as Stringer gave the Pirates their first point, winning over Kyle Tempest 6-1, 6-1.
In very short order, Senior Trevor Foster gave the Pirates a 2-0 lead after he dispatched Thomas Schuler 6-0, 6-2. “Trevor played a very solid match over a determined Tempest”.
The needed third and clinching point came at #1 Doubles when Logan Smith/Ben Duerstock got past Kent Biehle/Weston Miller 6-4, 6-2. “I think the Jennings County duo played the best match they played all year. I give lots of credit to Logan and Ben for staying focused”.
At #3 Singles, Charlie Pumphrey played an up and down match finally winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. “Charlie is very good when he puts his mind to it. When it’s time to close things out, he has been pretty good this year. Saturday was one of those days”.
At #2 Doubles, Sam Bower and Isaac Tebbe dropped their match to Joe Kelly/Wyatt St. John 7-6(3), 6-2. “Some days you just do not have your “A” game. I think that was the case with Sam and Isaac on Saturday. But I also think like at #1 Doubles, the Jennings County duo played their best tennis of the year”.
Greensburg will play Bloomington South at Bloomington North High School on Tues. in the first round of Regional. In the other match on Tues., Columbus North will face Seymour.
